The EU MOSAIC Project kicks off at Fincons' Future Gateway

The 18-month initiative will develop an AI-Driven Hub for multilingual and multimodal media content across Europe

The MOSAIC project, an EU-funded initiative unveiled at Fincons Group's Future Gateway in Bari, the modern and technological delivery center of the Group, has officially launched. Fincons, leading IT business consultant and system integrator, will act as project coordinator for this initiative designed to revolutionize how European media is created, distributed, and accessed.

MOSAIC (under the Grant Agreement No – LC – 03303874) stands for a Multilingual Multimodal Centralised AI-based Hub for the European Media Content Market and will run for the next 18 months. The MOSAIC project aims to empower broadcasters, media producers, and independent creators by integrating cutting-edge tools such as multilingual translation, automatic subtitling, and AI-driven content adaptation. These tools will enable the seamless repurposing of media content across linguistic and cultural barriers, fostering a more inclusive and united European media market.

European broadcasters, news agencies, and media corporations have long been recognized for their unparalleled standards in producing, distributing, and consuming high-quality media content. With archives rich in cultural, political, historical, and artistic significance, these organizations hold a treasure trove of material across film, television, radio, and digital media.
Yet, despite this wealth of resources, Europe’s audiovisual and news industry is highly fragmented, leading to the underutilization of content across the continent and reducing the competitiveness of European players in a digital landscape that is increasingly dominated by non-European platforms.

This groundbreaking initiative, MOSAIC, has been launched to address upcoming challenges: leveraging advanced EU-based AI technologies to enable the preservation, presentation, and reinvention of the richness of European media content and archives.
By embracing AI-driven innovation, it seeks to preserve Europe’s rich cultural heritage while ensuring its media industry remains competitive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
This platform will not only benefit professionals in the field but also empower citizens, offering novel and engaging ways to interact with Europe’s vast media archives.

AI technologies play a pivotal role in this initiative, particularly in the areas of translation, subtitling, and content adaptation.
Cutting-edge natural language processing (NLP) models ensure seamless multilingual translations, enabling content to transcend linguistic barriers. AI-driven subtitling tools provide accurate and context-aware captions, enhancing accessibility for diverse audiences. Additionally, adaptive content algorithms tailor media to suit cultural and regional nuances, ensuring that European content resonates globally while preserving its unique identity.

Fincons Group leads this 18-month endeavour with a consortium of prominent partners, including Sky Italia, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Pangeanic, Infalia, Corporació Catalana de Mitjans Audiovisuals, Deutsche Welle, Consultores de Automatización y Robótica SA, Radiotelevizija Slovenija, IDC CEMA, and De Vlaamse Radio en Televisieomroeporganisatie.

Specifically, Fincons acts as coordinator and system integrator, developing the platform and integrating Pangeanic’s AI tools and Infalia’s asset management tool to enable participating broadcasters to carry out pilot project.
Sky Italia, a long-term client of Fincons’, will also play a vital role in testing the platform through a user-oriented pilot program, ensuring real-world applicability and user satisfaction.

“MOSAIC not only enhances access to Europe’s rich media heritage but also champions European values of inclusivity, privacy, and ethical AI use, adhering to GDPR and promoting linguistic diversity.
