Fincons supported AET in its migration to S/4HANA and the implementation of Fiori Apps to enhance its operations and overall effectiveness
Challenge
AET (Azienda Elettrica Ticinese) is a publicly held company specializing in the production and commercial distribution of electricity, active in Switzerland, Italy, France, Germany and Austria.
In 2023, AET was looking to migrate its existing SAP ecosystem to S/4HANA and implement several new functionalities to enhance system performance and efficiency and support business process while achieving a more agile infrastructure, easily compatible with future integration.
Fincons, leveraging its proven experience with SAP and its dedicated Competence Center, won the tender for this 12-month project, which started in January 2024.

Solution
The project consisted of two main simultaneous streams:
Migration to S/4HANA
Fincons successfully completed the migration from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA through a structured approach aligned with SAP Best Practices, after in-depth testing and following the SAP Activate Methodology, from the technical assessment phase to go-live. This laid the foundation for innovation, enabling more efficient processes and real-time operations. The conversion also ensured full compatibility with the latest SAP S/4HANA functionalities (including Fiori apps) while ensuring no disruptions to existing processes.
Implementation of new functionalities with 100 Fiori Apps
Fincons also implemented several S/4HANA features to meet AET’s new business requirements, including almost 100 Fiori Apps across several SAP modules: Material Management (MM), Sales and Distribution (SD), Financial Accounting (FI), Human Capital Management (HCM), Plant Maintenance (PM), and Controlling (CO). With these implementations AET introduced Request for Quotation, timesheet and travel expenses management, workflow implementation and enhanced user status management.
Benefits
With the migration to S/4HANA and implementation of Fiori apps, AET achieved:
- Enhanced integration: S/4HANA allows seamless integration with both SAP solutions and third-party systems to ensure smoother data exchange and provide greater flexibility.
- Enhanced processes: improved efficiency thanks to new features introduced in particular via Fiori apps.
- Performance Improvement: the in-memory database enables real-time data processing, leading to improved performance, faster data retrieval and processing times, as well as reduced latency.
